“Few San Francisco neighborhoods have a small village vibe quite like Bernal Heights does. This little ‘hood on the hill is known for its quite and quaint character, spectacular views, lush farmers markets, vibrant homes, friendly people, and an unfair amount of sun. Here’s your guide to it.”

Early in the year Redfin named Bernal Heights the hottest neighborhood in the country. They confirmed their choice in a their Hot or Not update and again in this Hottest Homes piece:

The recovery of the San Francisco area’s real estate market has been headline-grabbing. Not only were homes severely undervalued during the economic downturn, but the region was one of the first to recover. As a result, no other market has been as hot.

Three neighborhoods get singled out as the most competitive for home buyers: the Sunset, Castro and again Bernal Heights.

Noteworthy among the top 10 are trendy, expensive places like “Redfin Hottest Neighborhood” alum Bernal Heights in San Francisco, which earned its hype this year with 78 percent of homes selling above list price and 58 percent of Redfin offers facing a bidding war.
